Hayden Lesley Panettiere [ ˈheɪ̯dn̩ ˌpænətiˈɛɚ ] (born August 21, 1989 in Orangetown , New York ) is an American actress , voice actress , singer , activist and model .

Life

Hayden Panettiere was born in Palisades , a district of Orangetown. Her parents are Lesley R. Vogel, formerly an actress in soap operas , and Alan Lee "Skip" Panettiere, fire chief . Her younger brother Jansen Panettiere is also an actor.

Panettiere is committed to animal welfare , so she has already participated actively in several protests against whaling by the marine protection organization Sea Shepherd Conservation Society . In the meantime, this even led to the demand for an arrest warrant by the Japanese authorities, which was however dropped. She can also be seen with Isabel Lucas at a protest in the documentary The Bay to demonstrate against the annual dolphin killing .

From 2006 to 2007 Panettiere was in a relationship with fellow actor Stephen Colletti and from late 2007 to early 2009 with Milo Ventimiglia , her actor from the series Heroes . From early 2010 to mid-May 2011, she had a relationship with boxer Wladimir Klitschko . From June 2011 to December 2012 she was in a relationship with former American football player Scotty McKnight. In 2013 Panettiere and Klitschko renewed their liaison; the engagement of the two was confirmed in October of the same year. On December 9, 2014, Panettiere and Klitschko became parents of a daughter. She separated from Klitschko in August 2018 and has been in a relationship with Brian Hickerson ever since.

In October 2015, Panettiere entered voluntary treatment for postnatal depression . Another therapy followed in May 2016. In public, she tackled the issue aggressively and has since tried to raise awareness in society of postpartum mood crises and existing offers of help and treatment. In her acting role as the successful country singer Juliette Barnes in the series Nashville , not only was her pregnancy included, but also the struggle with postnatal depression.

Career

Panettiere already appeared in commercials at the age of one and appeared in a total of around 50 such films. At the age of four, she was given a role in the television series Love, Lies, Passion , which she kept until 1997. From 1996 to 2000 she played a supporting role in the series Springfield Story . She was best known for the role of Maddie Harrington , the daughter of Ally McBeal , in the last season of the series Ally McBeal . She was nominated for a Young Artist Award for the role of Natalie Scheffer in the feature film Joe Jedermann .

In the film Against Any Rule , she played alongside Denzel Washington , in the film Love in a Detour alongside Kate Hudson and John Corbett . From 2006 to 2010 she starred in the NBC - TV series Heroes , the role of Claire Bennet , a cheerleader with regenerative powers. She was seen several times as Jessica in the sitcom Malcolm in the middle . In 2011 she played Amanda Knox in the TV movie Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy , which is based on the 2007 murder of Meredith Kercher . That same year she was on the cast of Wes Craven's horror film Scream 4 , where she starred alongside Neve Campbell and Emma Roberts .

Since October 2012 she is in the ABC - Musical series Nashville as Juliette Barnes , an emerging country to see singer. For this role, she was nominated at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards in the category Best Supporting Actress - Series, Mini-Series or TV Movie .
