Babs Olusanmokun
Babs Olusanmokun (* in the 20th century in Lagos as Babatunde Olusanmokun ) is a Nigerian - American actor .
life and career
Babs Olusanmokun was born in the Nigerian metropolis of Lagos and spent his childhood in various parts of the world, such as Paris and Brazil . He is fluent in English , French , Portuguese and Yoruba . During his time in Brazil, he began with the martial art Jiu Jitsu , he also boxed and Thai boxing . In the former sport he was very successful and was about two-time gold medalist at the Pan American Games .
He later settled in New York City , where he has lived ever since. His acting career was driven by the theater, for example he appeared at the Yale Repertory in Rainer Werner Fassbinder's In One Year with 13 Moons and in the Pulitzer Prize- winning Ruined by Lynn Nottage .
Olusanmokun gained his first acting experience in 2004 after starring in the film Indocumentados . This was followed by a number of guest appearances in US series, including The Unit - A Question of Honor , Veronica Mars , Law & Order: Special Victims Unit , Criminal Intent - Verbrechen im Visier , Blue Bloods - Crime Scene New York , Unforgettable , The Blacklist , Gotham or Sneaky Pete . He gained greater fame primarily through the role of Omoro Kinte from the mini-series Roots and as Sowande in the Netflix series Marvel's The Defenders .
In addition to his series roles, Olusanmokun also regularly takes on supporting roles in films such as Restless City , Ponies , Mother of George , Shelter or Where is Kyra? .
