Rosario Isabel Dawson (born May 9, 1979 in New York City ) is an American actress .

Life

Dawson's mother is of Puerto Rican and Afro-Cuban descent and her father is of Irish roots. She was spotted on the street in New York in 1995 by photographer and director Larry Clark and got a role in his film Kids . Then Dawson trained as an actress at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute . In 2005 she received a Satellite Award in the category Best Supporting Actress (Comedy / Musical) for her acting performance as Mimi in the film Rent .

In 2006 six films with Dawson were released. Among other things, she played alongside Robert Downey junior in Dito Montiel's Kids - In the streets of New York . She was also seen in Kevin Smiths ' Clerks II . In 2006 she co-wrote the graphic novel O.CT: Occult Crimes Taskforce with co-author David Atchison . OCT was filmed in 2013 with Dawson, and she also served as executive producer .

In the Marvel - Netflix series, she played the role of the nurse Claire Temple . She is the only actress in Marvel's Daredevil , Marvel's Jessica Jones , Marvel's Luke Cage and Marvel's Iron Fist .
