Spike Lee's Game of Life (Original Title: He Got Game ) is an American sports film directed by Spike Lee from 1998 .
action
The film tells the story of the exceptional basketball talent Jesus Shuttlesworth, who is courted by many universities, some of whom are illegal. His father Jake, who is in jail for the manslaughter of his wife, is offered an amnesty should he be able to influence his son in the college election. If Jesus plays for the governor's former college, Jake would be released. However, this task turns out to be very difficult for Jake, as Jesus still has not forgiven him for the manslaughter (rather accident) of his mother. After several visits to other colleges, Jesus finally signs for the governor's former college team - the Big State University, but Jake is not released. The president of the prison tells him that Jake is not responsible for his son's decision and that he should wait and see.
background
The film was shot in the East Jersey State Prison , among others .
Reviews
“A flat, instructive and unrestrainedly naive film, which director Spike Lee deliberately lets on his artistry. Also a disappointment as a sports film, ”said the lexicon of international films .
