Bill Nunn (born October 20, 1953 in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania , † September 24, 2016 there ) was an American actor .

biography

Bill Nunn was born to William G. Nunn, a journalist and scout for the Pittsburgh Steelers . In 1976 he graduated from the Morehouse College in Atlanta ( Georgia ). After that he appeared in various theater performances.

He got his first role in the film School Daze through Spike Lee , also a graduate of Morehouse College . In the following years he worked repeatedly with Spike Lee. He became better known for the role of "Radio Raheem" ​​running through the streets with a radio recorder in Lee's Oscar- nominated film Do the Right Thing (1989). Numerous other roles followed, for example in Henry (1991) at the side of Harrison Ford and in ... Because They Are There To Kiss (1997) together with Morgan Freeman . Nunn is best known for his involvement in the Spider-Man trilogy directed by Sam Raimi , in which he played newspaper editor Robbie Robertson .

Together with his wife Donna, the actor had two children. Bill Nunn died of cancer in late September 2016 at the age of 62.
