Kate Clinton (born November 9, 1947 in Buffalo , New York ) is an American journalist , author and cabaret artist .

Life

Clinton was born in Buffalo, New York in 1947 and grew up in a Roman Catholic family. After finishing school in New York State, Clinton studied English and Education at Le Moyne College and became a high school English teacher. She began performing as a comedian and cabaret artist in the 1980s. Her cabaret programs included Kate's Out Is In (1993), Impure Thoughts (1995), All Het Up (1996) and Correct Me If I'm Right (1999). Various program contents were recorded on audio albums, including Making Light! (1982), Making Waves! (1984), Live at the Great American Music Hall (1985), Babes in Joyland (1990), Comedy You Can Dance To (1998) and The Marrying Kind (2004). In 2002 she appeared in the film The Secret Lives of Dentists of Alan Rudolph and was in plays on Broadway The Rocky Horror Show (2001) and The Vagina Monologues to see (2002).

Clinton wrote a writer's books Do not Get Me Started and What the L . Clinton also wrote monthly columns for The Progressive and The Advocate magazines . On American television, Clinton appeared on various talk shows and was Grand Marshal of Gay Prides in the United States.

Since 1998 Clinton has lived in New York City and Provincetown , Massachusetts with her partner Urvashi Vaid .
