action

The leader of a Ku Klux Klan lodge, Jim Natter, is shot in front of his son Eric, who is overlooked by the perpetrators. While trying to get the young witness to safety, a group of police officers are fatally ambushed. The African-American cop Jerry Robinson, who is the only police officer to survive the shooting, flees from the attackers with Eric. Robinson not only counteracts the antipathy of Eric, who is laden with racist resentment, he is also the victim of an intrigue within the sheriff's department and hunted as the alleged mastermind behind the ambush. Only Lucy, his colleague, believes in his innocence and helps him. She is supported by Jerry's friend Watts Fatboy. Eric also begins to give up his prejudices when he realizes that Robinson is risking his life for him. Finally, Robinson and Lucy manage to hunt down both the traitors within the department and the killers of Jim Natter, led by Natter's rival Shannon Herold.

Reviews

"A film that is convincing as a study of a gradual convergence, but which towards the end feels increasingly committed to crime conventions and buries its actual story and its approaches under mountains of corpses."
