Terry Plumeri

Don Terryl "Terry" Plumeri (born November 28, 1944 in Greensboro , North Carolina ; † March 31, 2016 in Dunnellon , Florida ) was an American jazz and fusion musician ( double bass , electric bass ) and film composer .

Live and act

Plumeri played in an army band during his military service in the late 1960s, with which the first recordings were made. In the early 1970s, he led his own trio, with which he presented his debut album He Who Lives in Many Places ; Herbie Hancock , John Abercrombie and Eric Gravatt were guest musicians . During that decade he also worked with trumpeter Allen Houser ( No Samba , 1973). Plumeri's second album Ongoing followed in 1978; In addition to Abercrombie, Ralph Towner was also involved in the recordings . In later years he worked primarily as a film composer, including for the Hollywood productions Blood Line (1990), Angel in Red - Blood trail on the Sunset Strip (1991), Soldier Boyz (1995) and Blackmail - Bloody Reckoning (1996). In 1993 he received a nomination for the Independent Spirit Award for his work on the thriller One False Move by director Carl Franklin together with Peter Haycock and Derek Holt ( Climax Blues Band ) . In the field of jazz he was involved in eleven recording sessions between 1968 and 2007. Plumeri was found murdered in his home on April 1, 2016. The investigators assume that he was killed by a burglar the day before.
