Carl Franklin
Carl Franklin (born April 11, 1949 in Richmond , California ) is an American actor , director and screenwriter .
After graduating from Berkeley, Carl Franklin worked as a television actor. He appeared in television films, mini-series and regularly in unsuccessful series. He realized that this was not the way to go and went to the American Film Institute . He graduated in staging. The production company Concorde Films of Roger Corman was impressed by his thesis so that they took Franklin under contract.
After some work, Franklin's breakthrough as a director came in 1992 with the film One False Move , based on a script by Billy Bob Thornton . The Los Angeles Film Critics Association awarded him the New Generation Award , the MTV Movie Award for the best newcomer and the IFP Spirit Award for the best directorial work.
1995 Franklin directed the film Devil in a Blue , (Devil in a Blue Dress) with Denzel Washington . Despite good reviews, the film was a flop. The 1998 film Familiensache , (One True Thing) with Meryl Streep , Renée Zellweger and William Hurt received a lot of praise and nominations for Oscar and Golden Globe , but this film also flopped.
Franklin returned to television for a few years. He only started working for the cinema again in 2002.
Franklin is married for the third time. There are two children from his second marriage.
