action

One day in Wakefield, huge monsters, twines and zombies appear through dark portals in the sky. Thirteen-year-old orphan Jack Sullivan, whose foster family dumped him on the first day of the apocalypse, survived it in his tree house by creating challenges and trophies for himself as a video game action hero. It wasn't until 42 days later that he received the first sign of life from other survivors and was able to bring them to his tree house and form a team: his best friend Quint Baker, a very clever inventor; the muscleman Dirk Savage, who used to bully and injure her at school; and his crush, the former school newspaper editor and reckless June Del Toro, who is hoping for her parents' return. He also adopts a friendly, dog-like monster, which he calls a rover, as a pet and mount.

You will meet a group of intelligent, talking monsters who have settled in the local pizzeria, including the ax warrior Skaelka and the grim warlock Bardle. These come from a dimension that was ruled and threatened by Rezzoch the ancients through their evil magic, but entered the human world through suddenly emerging energy portals that closed again in good time before Rezzoch could get through. From the warrior Thrull, who becomes a mentor for Jack, the teenagers are given the task of completing a magical bestiary by taking the essence of each monster - e.g. B. a hair, a tooth, a scales or similar - collect. This is said to be the key to stop Rezzoch if she tries again to come into this world.

While completing this task, they notice changes in the behavior of the zombies, the number of which has dwindled sharply: when they shout from a distance, they run together in the same direction under external control; The group finds other zombies with holes in their heads that have had their brain sucked out. Eventually they find out that Thrull is behind it to summon Rezzoch and can defeat him first.
