Killshot (alternate title: Killshot - Merciless Hunt ) is an American thriller directed by John Madden from 2008 . It is based on the novel of the same name by Elmore Leonard from 1989.

action

The professional killer Blackbird, a half-Indian, kills not only the target person, but also the lover of his client, who was also at the scene, strictly following his maxim never to let anyone live who could later remember him. On the run from his client, he allies himself with the small-time star Richie Nix, because he reminds him of his younger brother who was shot. Since both have the same goal, namely to make as much money as possible, they want to blackmail a real estate agent. But this goes wrong with the courageous intervention of the married couple Wayne and Carmen Colson. Since both of them have seen Blackbird and Richie, they are now in great danger. When the FBI learns about this, it wins both of them as key witnesses and accepts them into the witness protection program. Blackbird tries everything to find out where she is. He uses a trick to fake his death, so that Carmen returns alone to her traditional house. Blackbird and Richie are lurking here. Since Wayne is not there yet, Blackbird initially lets her live and instead kills Richie, who is increasingly annoying him. When Wayne returns, he understands the situation in a flash and, together with his wife, can hunt down Blackbird.

reception

The Lexicon of International Films writes: “The formally quite convincing film cannot quite balance its storylines and unite them into a coherent whole. Frequent changes in the narrative perspective between the four main characters reinforce the disparate impression ”.

On the Rotten Tomatoes website , the film received a rating of 43% positive reviews and is therefore classified as "rotten".
