Al Connelly, a student, meets the girl of his dreams, freshman Imogen. Both fall head over heels in love and from then on spend their time together. But after a while, the two doubts grow: Can their first love be the only true love that lasts a lifetime? Her best friends Cyrus, Eddie and Monk are skeptical of the romance.
The first time Al and Imogen's love is tested is when Imogen goes to France. After her return to the USA, everyday life displaces love: Imogen has become more serious and mature through her trip to France, which Al cannot understand and feels rejected as a result.
