Robert David Yeoman (born March 10, 1951 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is an American cinematographer .

Life

Robert David Yeoman was born in Philadelphia and grew up in a suburb of Chicago . He studied psychology at Duke University , where he received his bachelor's degree in 1973 . He then studied camera science at the University of Southern California Film School . After graduating in 1979, he became the assistant to the commercial filmmaker Joe Pytka and later assisted the cameraman Robby Müller , before he independently directed the camera in a feature film for the first time in 1983 with Hero , an independent film by Alexandre Rockwell . Since then, feature films such as Dogma , Der Ja-Sager and Brautalarm have followed .

For the auteur filmmaker Wes Anderson he was behind the camera for Durchgeknallt , Rushmore , The Royal Tenenbaums , The Deep Sea Divers , Darjeeling Limited , the short film Hotel Chevalier , Moonrise Kingdom and most recently for Grand Budapest Hotel .
