action

FBI agent Sarah Ashburn storms a house with a team and single-handedly finds hidden drugs and weapons when her colleagues are about to leave. She is convinced of herself and her work, while her colleagues have complained several times about her nature. Her only friend is the neighbors' cat, who occasionally visits her in her New York apartment. Her supervisor refuses to give her a natural promotion because of the complaints from colleagues. However, he suggests that if she caught a drug lord named Larkin in Boston , she still had a chance .

Once there, she wants to question the drug dealer Rojas, who has just been imprisoned, about Larkin. She makes the acquaintance of Detective Mullins, an officer in the local police force, who is mostly pragmatic, coarse and direct and who has caught the dealer shortly beforehand. She refuses to work with Ashburn, but is interested in the case, as it affects her turf, which also includes her run-down apartment. Through a prostitute they find a nightclub where they manage to put a bug on the cell phone of the criminal LeSoire. As they leave the premises, they are followed by two DEA agents, Craig and Adam. The two have been investigating LeSoire for a long time and don't want Ashburn and Mullins in the way.

The two are pulled from the case and get drunk at Mullin's local pub. She gives her car to a man who is drunk. When he gets in, it explodes. Ashburn also receives a threat against Mullin's family. The two bring the extended family out of town. Mullin's brother, who she had jailed for drug-related crime a few years ago, goes to his old employer, LeSoire, to find out the destination of the next drug shipment.

He gets a wrong tip, is shot and goes to the hospital. The FBI controls the drug smuggling boat that turns out to be a party steamer and makes Ashburn look bad. As a result, the two mix up the local drug scene in search of clues about Larkin's next deal. They get the crucial tip from Rojas, which leads them heavily armed to a warehouse at the port. However, you will be overwhelmed and captured. It turns out that Larkin is DEA agent Adam.

The two manage to break free and pursue Larkin alias Adam to the hospital where Jason is lying. When Larkin tries to kill him with an air injection, Ashburn shoots him in the genitals. The case is solved, the two become friends. Ashburn renounces the desired position in New York and moves as a Supervisory Special Agent (SSA) a chic office in the FBI field office in Boston.

reception

Reviews

“A simpler and more accurate way to describe this movie would be that it consists of 2 hours of Melissa McCarthy's vulgar outbursts and a Sandra Bullock who shudders, flaps her arms and sighs in frustration. If you need another reason to see the film, I can't really offer one with a clear conscience, as the story is sloppy and thin, many jokes seem forced and outdated and the level of violence is somewhat irritating. But the moody chemistry between McCarthy and Bullock has to be seen, it carries tough girls through the lazy concept and the sloppy execution. "

- AO Scott : The New York Times

“Although the story could tempt you to do so, the film does not slide into stereotypes, but rather explores the clichés of the genre with pleasure. Combined with the brilliant performance of the actors and the amusing dialogues, the film offers almost two hours of entertaining cinema enjoyment. "

- Cordula Dieckmann : Star

"The fact that 'Taffe Mädels' is a bit absurd is due to the genre of the buddy-cop movie, with which neither screenwriter Katie Dippold ('Parks and Recreation') nor Feig know how to start anything new."

- Hannah Pilarczyk : Spiegel Online

“Compared to bridal alarm, Taffe girls looks rounder and a little more successful. Not only because he trusts his characters more, but also because he's incredibly funny, and that over the not unproblematic running time of two hours. "

- Michael Kienzl : Critic.de

"Based on a pretty predictable and flat story, the film shuffles from one moment of unfamiliar shame to the next."

- Anna Wollner : FilmClicks

"Bullock and McCarthy convince as a chaos duo in a surprisingly robust buddy comedy, which you should watch in the original."

“Female variant of the cop-buddy comedy, which derives its humorous capital largely from the physical presence of the weighty protagonist, but largely loses sight of the hunt for criminals and thus the arc of suspense in a disdainful series of gags. A conceptless film that cannot capitalize on its cast or the songs. "
