Katie Dippold (born January 10, 1980 in Freehold Township , New Jersey ) is an American screenwriter, improvisational comedian and actress .

She was the author, co-producer and actress of the NBC comedy series Parks and Recreation and wrote the screenplay for Taffe Mädels , for which she won a People's Choice Award (category: Best Comedy Screenplay) in 2014.

Life

Dippold was born and raised in Freehold Township, New Jersey . Her father worked for Nestlé and her mother worked as an advertising designer. She moved to San Francisco with her parents and older sister at the age of eight , but later moved back to New Jersey at the age of 15. She graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in Journalism.

After college and an unsuccessful application to the FBI , Dippold began a career as an improvisational comedian at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater (UCBT) in New York City . She wrote and performed various stage shows at the UCBT and is still doing improvisational theater on the stage of the UCBT in Los Angeles . She is part of the improvisation groups "The Smokes" and "Reuben Starship". Dippold was a multiple sketch guest on Late Night with Conan O'Brien and actress in the MTV reality TV prank series Boiling Points (2004-2005). In 2006 she became a writer for MADtv's 12th season and was also a co-producer on its 14th season. In 2009 she joined the writing team of Parks and Recreation , on which she worked for several seasons.

In 2012 she was listed among the “10 Screenwriters to Watch” in Variety magazine and “13 People to Look Out For in 2013” ​​in Interview magazine .

Dippold wrote the screenplay for the comedy Taffe Girls (2013), which it sold to producer Peter Chernin for $ 600,000. Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy starred in the film, directed by Paul Feig , with Dippold having a guest role.

On October 8, 2014, The Hollywood Reporter announced that Katie Dippold and Paul Feig were writing the reboot of Ghostbusters . The film , in which she also has a short guest appearance, was released in US cinemas in July 2016. In 2015 she had a guest role in Spy - Susan Cooper Undercover . She wrote the script for Mädeltrip ( Snatched ) from 2017.

In 2017 she was accepted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which awards the Oscars every year.

She lives with her boyfriend in Los Angeles (as of July 2013).
