Drew Goddard (born February 26, 1975 in Los Alamos , New Mexico ) is an American screenwriter , producer and director .

Life

Goddard first appeared in the film business in 2002 and 2003 as a screenwriter for several episodes of the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer . From 2003 to 2004 he was the executive story editor of the spin-off series Angel - Jäger der Finsternis , for which he was also active as a writer during the same period. Both projects meant the first collaboration with Joss Whedon .

From 2005 to 2006 Goddard was a producer and writer for the series Alias ​​- Die Agentin . This marked the beginning of a long-term cooperation with JJ Abrams . In 2008 Goddard wrote the screenplay for Cloverfield , his first feature film. JJ Abrams produced the project. When he was hired by Sony to direct the Marvel film Sinister Six , he was unable to direct The Martian for lack of time; the film was then directed by Ridley Scott .
