Christopher Michael "Chris" Pratt (born June 21, 1979 in Virginia , Minnesota ) is an American actor .

Career

Pratt graduated from Lake Stevens High School in 1997 and initially worked as a comedian . His specialty was the satirizing of Jim Carrey . In 2000 he was discovered by the actress Rae Dawn Chong , who cast him for her directorial debut . In Cursed Part 3 , a horror film paired with comedy elements, Pratt played the main character Devon . In 2002 he was cast in the role of Bright Abbott on the Everwood television series that made him famous in the United States. In 2004 and 2005, Pratt was nominated for a Teen Choice Award for his role in Everwood .

In 2007 he played the role of Winchester "Che" Cook on the fourth and final season of OC, California . In 2008 he starred in the action film Wanted . From 2009 to 2015 he played Andy Dwyer in the comedy series Parks and Recreation . While he mostly played comedic roles before, he managed to change his image in recent years, in which he increasingly took on the male lead in more action-packed films, although he usually took a certain self-irony in his play. In 2014 he took on the role of Peter Quill / Star-Lord in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy as the main actor . After that, Pratt took on the lead role in Jurassic World . In 2016 he played one of two leading roles in Passengers .

Pratt received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles on April 21, 2017 . In the same year he was accepted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which awards the Oscars every year.

Personal

Pratt was married to the American actress Anna Faris from July 9, 2009 . Their son was born in August 2012. At the beginning of August 2017, the couple separated.

In January 2019, he announced the engagement to author Katherine Schwarzenegger , Arnold Schwarzenegger's eldest daughter . The couple married on June 8, 2019. In August 2020, the couple's first child, a daughter, was born.

Pratt speaks a little German and is a devout Christian .
