Onward: No half measures (original title: Onward , English for "progressive") is a computer-animated film by Dan Scanlon from 2020 . The fantasy film from Pixar was on 21 February 2020, the framework of the 70th Berlin International Film Festival premiere. The regular cinema release in Germany was on March 5, 2020.

The action takes place in a magical world that is inhabited by mythical creatures . In this world the mechanization progresses and the magic gets lost further and further. In this setting, the story of two teenage elf brothers, Ian and Barley Lightfoot, is told. Their father, whom they can no longer remember, died when they were young. However, the remaining magic enables Ian and Bartley to spend one last magical day with their father. Because they can only materialize half of the father, the two go on a "quest" with half the father, a journey to find a magical artifact. With its help, they manage to have their father completely with them again before the day is over, even if only for a short time. On the way, the two brothers not only get closer to their father, but also to each other and to their mother and her new partner, a police centaur .

At the Expo D23 of Pixar's parent company Walt Disney Company , John Lasseter , CCO of Pixar, announced a fantasy film in July 2017 , which is set in the suburbs of a fictional world . In this Kori Rae as a producer and Dan Scanlon as director announced. Scanlon also wrote the script. At D23, Scanlon announced that the story is inspired by the death of his father, who died when Scanlon was one year old. After Scanlon listened to a brief audio recording of his father with his brother, he thought about who his father was. The film concept developed from this. On December 12, 2018, it was announced that CS Anderson would be working on the script alongside Scanton and that the flick would hit cinemas on March 6, 2020. At the same time, the previously untitled project was given the title Onward and Chris Pratt , Tom Holland , Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Octavia Spencer were announced as voice actors for the English-language original . In Germany, Onward will be published on March 5, 2020 with the additional subtitle No half things . On April 16, 2019, Mychael Danna and Jeff Danna were announced as responsible for the film music.
