Anson Adams Mount IV (born February 25, 1973 in White Bluff , Tennessee ) is an American actor.

Life

He is the only child of professional golfer Nancy Smith and Playboy sports editor Anson Mount II.

He graduated from Dickson County High School in 1991, then went to the University of South until 1995 . After graduation, he attended Columbia University for MFA Acting Program from 1995 to 1998 .

At first he turned down the role of Ben Kimble in the movie Not a Girl because it seemed too tasteless and lame. Robert De Niro , who was apparently a Britney Spears fan at the time, persuaded him to take on the role on the set of City by the Sea .

He made small appearances on television series such as Sex and the City , CSI: Miami , Lost , Law & Order and Ally McBeal , in which he made his acting debut in 1999.

He gained greater fame through his role as Cullen Bohannon in the 2011-2016 western television series Hell on Wheels and as Captain Christopher Pike in the second season of the Star Trek: Discovery series, which has been in production since 2017 .
