Lana Therese Condor (born May 11, 1997 in Cần Thơ , Vietnam as Tran Dong Lan ) is an American actress of Vietnamese origin .

Earlier life

Condor grew up in Chicago, Illinois . She was adopted on October 6, 1997, together with her nonbiological brother Arthur, by American parents, Mary Carol (née Haubold) and Bob Condor. When she was born, Condor was named Tran Dong Lan , but after her adoption she was christened Lana Therese Condor. Bob Condor is a two-time Pulitzer Prize nominee journalist and the intermittent vice president of Yahoo! Sport was. Condor and her family lived in Whidbey Island , Washington, and New York City before moving to Santa Monica , California , when she was 15 .

Condor studied ballet as a child, trained at the Joffrey Ballet , the Rock School for Dance Education and the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater . She continued to dance with the Los Angeles Ballet and trained in improvisational theater with The Groundlings . Condor took acting classes at the New York Film Academy and the Yale Summer Conservatory for Actors . In 2014 she received a theater scholarship to the California State Summer School of Arts. Condor was trained at the Professional Performing Arts School in New York City. In 2015 she graduated from Notre Dame Academy in Los Angeles . In 2016, Condor received recognition from Loyola Marymount University .

Career

Condor made her debut as the mutated Jubilee in Bryan Singer's superhero film X-Men: Apocalypse , which was released on May 27, 2016. She next appeared in Peter Berg's drama Boston (Patriots Day) , which depicts the events and bombing of the Boston Marathon . The film premiered at AFI Fest and was theatrically released on December 21, 2016. The following year, she starred alongside James Franco and Julia Jones in the romantic TV thriller film High School Lover , which premiered on February 4, 2017.

Condor portrayed the lead role of Lara Jean Covey in Susan Johnson's romantic drama To All the Boys I've Loved Before, based on Jenny Hans ' novel for young adults of the same name. The film was released by Netflix on August 17, 2018 . In the sequel To All the Boys: PS I Still Love You , published in February 2020 , she embodied this role again. She was also cast as Koyomi K. in Robert Rodriguez 's science fiction film Alita: Battle Angel , which was produced by James Cameron and based on the Yukito Kishiro comic book series . The film was released on December 21, 2018.

She starred alongside Analeigh Tipton and Justin Chatwin in the upcoming comic series Summer Night , which is being produced under the direction of Joseph Cross and James Ponsoldt . Condor was cast as Saya Kuroki in Syfy's television series Deadly Class , which is based on Benedict Wong 's Rick Remender series . She will also appear in the upcoming science fiction thriller Warning, alongside Laura Harrier , James D'Arcy and Alex Pettyfer .
