Damvix is a French municipality with 747 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Vendée , in the Région Pays de la Loire . Damvix belongs to the arrondissement Fontenay-le-Comte and the canton Fontenay-le-Comte (until 2015: canton Maillezais ). The inhabitants are called Damvitais .
location
Damvix is the southernmost municipality in the Vendée department. It is located about 20 kilometers west of Niort in the Marais Poitevin and the Venise Verte . The Sèvre Niortaise runs through the municipality . Damvix is surrounded by the neighboring communities Maillezais in the north, Saint-Sigismond in the east and northeast, Arçais in the east and southeast, Saint-Hilaire-la-Palud in the south and southeast, La Ronde in the southwest and Maillé in the west.
