Until the state-wide reorganization of the cantons in March 2015, the canton of Fontenay-le-Comte consisted of the eleven municipalities of Auchay-sur-Vendée , Chaix , Fontaines , Fontenay-le-Comte , L'Orbrie , Le Langon , Le Poiré-sur-Velluire , Longèves , Montreuil , Pissotte and Velluire . Its layout corresponded to an area of ​​161.34 km ² . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 8507.
