Le Poiré-sur-Velluire is a former French commune in the Vendée and today's commune Déléguée in the Region Pays de la Loire ; it is part of the arrondissement Fontenay-le-Comte and the canton of Fontenay-le-Comte . It was merged with Velluire to form Commune nouvelle Les Velluire-sur-Vendée with effect from January 1, 2019 . The inhabitants are called Pérotins .
geography
Le Poiré-sur-Velluire is located about 23 kilometers west-northwest of Niort and about 41 kilometers east-southeast of La Roche-sur-Yon . The river Vendée limits the municipality to the east. Le Poiré-sur-Velluire is surrounded by the villages of Le Langon in the north and west, Auzay in the north and north-east, Chaix in the north-east, Velluire in the east and south-east and La Taillée in the south.
