Chaix is a former French commune least 450 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013) in the department of Vendée in the region of Pays de la Loire ; it was part of the arrondissement Fontenay-le-Comte and the canton of Fontenay-le-Comte . The inhabitants are called chaisiens .

With effect from January 1, 2017, Chaix was merged with the neighboring municipality of Auzay to form the municipality ( Commune nouvelle ) Auchay-sur-Vendée .

geography

Chaix is ​​about 34 kilometers west-northwest of Niort and about 49 kilometers east-southeast of La Roche-sur-Yon . The Vendée bounded the former municipality in the northwest.
