Auzay is a former French commune least 640 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013) in the department of Vendée in the region of Pays de la Loire ; it was part of the arrondissement Fontenay-le-Comte and the canton of Fontenay-le-Comte . The inhabitants are called Auzayciens .

With effect from January 1, 2017, Auzay - together with the former neighboring commune Chaix - is part of the newly formed commune ( Commune nouvelle ) Auchay-sur-Vendée .

geography

Auzay is about 34 kilometers west-northwest of Niort and about 49 kilometers east-southeast of La Roche-sur-Yon . The Vendée bordered the former municipality in the southeast.

The A83 autoroute runs through the municipality .
