La Roche-sur-Yon is a French city ​​with 54,372 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Vendée department , which belongs to the Pays de la Loire region . It is the administrative seat of the department , i.e. the seat of the prefecture . The city is crossed by the River Yon .
