Saint-Malô-du-Bois is located about 49 kilometers east-northeast of La Roche-sur-Yon . The Sèvre Nantaise limits the municipality to the east. Saint-Malô-du-Bois is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Laurent-sur-Sèvre in the north, Treize-Vents in the east, La Gaubretière in the east and south-east, Les Epesses in the south and Chanverrie in the west and north-west.
