Les Lucs-sur-Boulogne is a French municipality with 6005 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Vendée in the region of Pays de la Loire ; it belongs to the arrondissement of La Roche-sur-Yon and the canton of Aizenay . The inhabitants are called Beucquots-Lucquois (es) .
geography
Les Lucs-sur-Boulogne is located on the Boulogne River . Les Lucs-sur-Boulogne is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Rocheservière in the north, Mormaison and Saint-Sulpice-le-Verdon in the northeast, Saint-Denis-la-Chevasse in the east, Saligny in the southeast, Beaufou in the south and southwest, and Saint-Étienne -du-Bois in the west and Legé in the northwest.
history
During the revolutionary years, the Lucs-sur-Boulogne massacre took place here in 1794, when Republican troops murdered between 500 and 1000 civilians in the town. In 1993, the Vendée Memorial was unveiled as a monument against totalitarianism by Alexander Solzhenitsyn .
