Chauché is a French commune in the department of Vendée in the region of Pays de la Loire . It belongs to the arrondissement of La Roche-sur-Yon and is part of the canton of Montaigu (until 2015: canton of Saint-Fulgent ). The 2,470 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) are called Chauchéens .
geography
Chauché is located about 48 kilometers south-southeast of Nantes and about 20 kilometers northeast of La Roche-sur-Yon . Chauché is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Les Brouzils , Chavagne-en-Palliers and La Rabatelière in the north, Saint-André-Goule-d'Oie in the east and northeast, Les Essarts in the south and southeast, Boulogne in the south and southwest, Dompierre-sur -Yon in the southwest, Saint-Denis-la-Chevasse in the west and La Copechagnière in the northwest.
The A83 autoroute runs through the municipality .
history
The Battle of Chauché took place near Chauché on February 2, 1794, during which the republican troops were defeated by the royalist supporters of the Vendée.
