Chavagnes-en-Paillers is a commune in France . It lies in the region of Pays de la Loire in the department of Vendée about 50 km south-east of Nantes . It belongs to the canton of Montaigu in the arrondissement of La Roche-sur-Yon . Its 3536 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) are called Chavagnais .

Two clerical congregations were founded here in the 19th century by Father Louis-Marie Baudouin: the Ursulines de Jésus ( Ursulines of Jesus ) and the Fils de Marie Immaculée ( Sons of the Immaculate Virgin Mary ). From the seminary founded by Baudouin, today's international Catholic boarding school, Chavagnes International College, emerged.

The 100 km de Vendée , an ultra marathon , has been taking place since 1988, and in 1999 the 100 km road running world championships were held.
