Jakob Sildnik
Jakob Sildnik (* January 23 . Jul / 4. February 1883 greg. , † 25. March 1973 ) was an Estonian photographer, cameraman and film pioneer in Estonia .
Life
Jakob Sildnik worked as a photographer in Tartu (German Dorpat ) in southern Estonia . He is best known for the two short silent films " Vanaema kingitus " ( The gift from the grandmother ) and " Must teemant " ( The black diamond ), in which he took the camera. He made both films in 1923 with the Estonian film director Fyodor Ljubovski . They are among the very first works in Estonian film history.
Jakob Sildnik was married to Julie Marie Sildnik (1890–1913). The couple had a daughter. Jakob Sildnik was murdered in a robbery at the age of 90.
