The film is about the transport of a cow through the city of Tartu, which causes a lot of adventure and excitement.
Production, publication
After Karujaht Pärnumaal from 1914, Vanaema kingitus from 1923 was only the second Estonian feature film. The slapstick comedy was shot as a short film. The camera was directed by the Estonian film pioneer Jakob Sildnik . The production company was Regina-Film, founded in Tartu that same year .
The film premiered on August 21, 1923 in the “Athena” cinema in Tartu.
The shooting with the animal is said to have been turbulent and chaotic at times.
