La Gaubretière is a French commune with 3,060 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Vendée in the region of Pays de la Loire . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of La Roche-sur-Yon and the canton of Mortagne-sur-Sèvre . The inhabitants are called Gaubretiérois .

La Gaubretière is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Martin-des-Tilleuls in the north, Chanverrie in the east, Les Herbiers in the south and south-east, Beaurepaire in the south and south-west, Bazoges-en-Paillers in the south-west and Les Landes-Genusson in the west and north-west . The river Crûme limits the municipality to the north.
The A87 car route runs through the municipality .
history
On February 27, 1794, the leader of the Republican troops, Jean-Baptiste Huché, ordered the people of La Gaubretière to be slaughtered during the clashes in the Vendée loyal to the king. The reliable information about the number of deaths varies between 107 and 128.
