Leksand is a place ( tätort ) in the Swedish province of County of Dalarna and the historical province of Dalarna . The main town of the municipality of the same name is located at the southern end of Lake Siljan , where the Österdalälven flows out of the lake.

Leksand is a tourist and administrative center. In addition to the municipal administration, part of the administration of the provincial council is also located in Leksand.

The small town is best known for its ice hockey team Leksands IF , which became Swedish ice hockey champions in 1969, 1973, 1974 and 1975. In recent years the club has developed into an "elevator team" between the 1st division ( Svenska Hockeyligan ) and the 2nd division ( Allsvenskan ).

The crispbread factory of the same name, founded in 1920, whose specialty is round and triangular crispbread with the Dala horse on the packaging, has also contributed to its popularity . According to its own information, it is the second largest crispbread factory in Sweden after Wasabröd .
