The Österdalälven is a central Swedish river that flows from the Scandinavian Mountains towards the Baltic Sea .

geography

It is created by the confluence of Storån and Sörälven near Idre in north-western Dalarna , near the Norwegian border. After exiting Lake Idresjön , the current flows for a length of about 230 kilometers in a south-easterly direction. In the upper reaches there are a few lakes and artificial impoundments. The river flows through the lake Siljan in the middle reaches . South of Gagnef , it joins the Västerdalälven coming from the west to form Dalälven .

The Riksväg 70 follows the course of the river completely with short interruptions.
