The canton of L'Ile-d'Yeu is a French administrative unit in the Arrondissement Les Sables d'Olonne , in the Vendée and the region Pays de la Loire ; its main town is L'Île-d'Yeu . Bruno Noury ​​( DVG ) has been a representative in the General Council of the Department since 2011 .

Surname

The island of L'Île-d'Yeu was called L'Isle-Dieu (God's Island) until the French Revolution. It was then named Île-de-la-Réunion and Rocher-de-la-sans-Culotterie for a short time. It has had its current name since 1801. However, from 1793 to 1801 and at the beginning of the 19th century, the spelling L'Ile-Dieu, which is no longer in use today, was occasionally used. At the same time, the canton changed its name.
