Oulmès ( Arabic ولماس, Zentralatlas-Tamazight ⵡⴰⵍⵎⴰⵙ ) is a Moroccan small town and rural community ( commune rurale ) with about 25,000 inhabitants in the province of Khémisset in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region .

location

Oulmès is located in the western hills or mountains of the Middle Atlas at an altitude of about 1250 m above sea level. d. M. The provincial capital Khémisset is about 93 km (driving distance) south; the city of Azrou is about 135 km to the east.

history

At the beginning of the French protectorate (1912) Oulmès was only a village with about 500 inhabitants; The place gained its current importance under the French and especially after the independence of Morocco (1956).
