Grues is a western French community with 851 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Vendée in the region of Pays de la Loire . Grues belongs to the arrondissement of Fontenay-le-Comte and the canton of Luçon . The inhabitants are called Gruaulais .

Grues is located about 29 kilometers north-northwest of La Rochelle in the Marais Poitevin . The Lay forms the western boundary of the municipality. Grues is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Benoist-sur-Mer in the north and north-west, Saint-Denis-du-Payré in the north-east, Saint-Michel-en-l'Herm in the east and south-east, L'Aiguillon-sur-Mer and La Faute-sur-Mer in the south, La Tranche-sur-Mer in the southwest and Angles in the west.
