Saint-Benoist-sur-Mer is a French village with 474 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Vendée in the region of Pays de la Loire ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Les Sables d'Olonne and the canton of Mareuil-sur-Lay-Dissais (until 2015: canton of Moutiers-les-Mauxfaits ). The inhabitants are called Bénédictins .
geography
Saint-Benoist-sur-Mer is located near the Bay of Biscay , about 27 kilometers south-southeast of La Roche-sur-Yon on the salt marshes of the Lay . Saint-Benoist-sur-Mer is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of La Jonchère in the north and north-west, Saint-Cyr-en-Talmondais in the north and north-east, Curzon in the north-east, Lairoux in the east and north-east, and Saint-Denis-du-Payré in the east and southeast, Grues in the south and Angles in the west and southwest.
