Jard-sur-Mer is a French commune with 2,653 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Vendée in the region of Pays de la Loire ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Les Sables-d'Olonne and the canton of Talmont-Saint-Hilaire .
geography
Jard-sur-Mer is located on the Côte de Lumière on the French Atlantic coast . The small river Île Bernard touches the municipality in the northwest and forms the Payré estuary near the village of La Vinière , which reaches the open sea after about five kilometers at the Pointe du Payré . Jard-sur-Mer is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Talmont-Saint-Hilaire in the north and west and Saint-Vincent-sur-Jard in the east.
