Landevieille is a French commune with 1,430 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Vendée in the region of Pays de la Loire . Landevieille belongs to the Arrondissement of Les Sables-d'Olonne and the canton of Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez (until 2015: canton of Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie ). Landevieille is located about 29 kilometers west of La Roche-sur-Yon near the Atlantic coast . Landevieille is surrounded by the neighboring communities of L'Aiguillon-sur-Vie in the north, La Chapelle-Hermier in the northeast, Saint-Julien-des-Landes in the east, Vaire in the south and southeast, Brem-sur-Mer in the south, Bretignolles-sur -Mer in the west and la Chaize-Giraud in the northwest.
