Nieul-le-Dolent is a French municipality with 2487 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Vendée in the region of Pays de la Loire ; it belongs to the Arrondissement of Les Sables d'Olonne and the canton of Talmont-Saint-Hilaire (until 2015: canton of La Mothe-Achard ).
geography
Nieul-le-Dolent is about twelve kilometers southwest of La Roche-sur-Yon and about 22 kilometers east-northeast of Les Sables-d'Olonne . The source of the Vertonne lies on the southern border of the municipality . Nieul-le-Dolent is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Les Clouzeaux in the north, Aubigny in the east and northeast, La Boissière-des-Landes in the east and southeast, Saint-Avaugourd-des-Landes in the south and southeast, Poiroux in the south, Grosbreuil in the Southwest, Le Girouard in the west and Sainte-Flaive-des-Loups in the northwest.
