Poiroux (also: Le Poiroux ) is a French municipality with 1090 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Vendée in the region of Pays de la Loire . Poiroux belongs to the Arrondissement of Les Sables-d'Olonne and the canton of Talmont-Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez . The inhabitants are called Pérusiens or Péruviens .

geography

Poiroux is located near the Atlantic coast and about 20 kilometers south-southwest of La Roche-sur-Yon . The Vertonne rises in the extreme northeast of the municipality . The Lac de Finfarine is dammed here. Poiroux is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Grosbreuil in the north and north-west, Nieul-le-Dolent in the north-east, Saint-Avaugourd-des-Landes in the east, Avrillé in the south-east, Saint-Hilaire-la-Forêt in the south and Talmont-Saint-Hilaire in the West and southwest.
