Froidfond is a French commune with 1,876 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Vendée in the region of Pays de la Loire . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Les Sables-d'Olonne and the Canton of Challans . The inhabitants are called Froidfondais .
geography
Froidfond is about 33 kilometers northwest of La Roche-sur-Yon . Froidfond is surrounded by the neighboring communities of La Garnache in the north and west, Saint-Étienne-de-Mer-Morte in the north-east, Touvois in the east and north-east, Falleron in the east and south-east, Saint-Christophe-du-Ligneron in the south and south-east and Challans in the southwest.

In the Battle of La Chauvière on February 28, 1796, the republican troops defeated the Vendée insurgents here.
