L'Ile-d'Olonne is a commune with 2,694 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Vendée in the region of Pays de la Loire . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Les Sables-d'Olonne and the canton of Talmont-Saint-Hilaire . The inhabitants are called Ilais .

geography

L'Île-d'Olonne is located near the Côte de Lumière on the Bay of Biscay . The river Auzance limits the municipality in the north, the Vertonne in the west and south. L'Île-d'Olonne is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Vairé in the north and northeast, Saint-Mathurin in the east, Olonne-sur-Mer in the south and west and Brem-sur-Mer in the north-west.
