Saint-Mathurin is a commune with 2,270 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Vendée in the region of Pays de la Loire ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Les Sables-d'Olonne and the canton of Talmont-Saint-Hilaire (until 2015: canton of La Mothe-Achard ). The inhabitants are called Mathurinois .

geography

Saint-Mathurin is located about 24 kilometers southwest of La Roche-sur-Yon and about nine kilometers northeast of Les Sables-d'Olonne . The municipality is bordered by the Auzance to the north and the Vertonne to the south . Saint-Mathurin is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Vairé in the north and north-west, Les Achards with La Chapelle-Achard in the east, Grosbreuil in the south-east, Sainte-Foy in the south, Olonne-sur-Mer in the south-west and L'Île-d'Olonne in the West.
