The inhabitants are called Stéphanois .

Saint-Étienne-de-Brillouet is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Thiré in the north, Saint-Valérien in the northeast, Pouillé in the east, Nalliers in the south, Saint-Aubin-la-Plaine in the west and southwest and Sainte-Hermine in the west and northwest.
