Bessay is a French municipality with 426 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Vendée in the region of Pays de la Loire . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Fontenay-le-Comte and the canton of Mareuil-sur-Lay-Dissais . The inhabitants are called Bessayens .

geography

Bessay is located about 25 kilometers southeast of La Roche-sur-Yon am Lay . The Smagne delimits the municipality in the south. Bessay is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Moutiers-sur-le-Lay in the north, Sainte-Pexine in the east and northeast, Saint-Jean-de-Beugné in the southeast, Corpe in the south and Mareuil-sur-Lay-Dissais in the west.
