Ernesto Perren
Ernesto Perren (born January 1, 1942 in Zermatt in the canton of Valais , as Ernest-Joseph Perren) is a Swiss writer .
Life
Ernesto Perren comes from a family of mountain guides in Zermatt . After attending the commercial and traffic school in Brig as well as attending various secondary schools in Lucerne and Zurich, which Perren left without a degree, followed language stays in western Switzerland, Ticino, England, France, Spain and South America. In 1968 Perren trained as an aviation specialist at Swissair and worked for this company for 26 years. In 1994 he returned to Zermatt and started his own business as a travel and trekking guide and parahotelier . Perren was vice-president of the Valais writers' association .
Ernesto Perren published non-fiction books and picture-text volumes on the mountains of the Valais and Mattertal as well as on the tourism and hotel history of Zermatt and made a name for himself as an essayist, poet and editor. In his essays Perren deals with the cultural history of the Alps and mountaineering as well as with the cultural and intellectual history of the European area.
Ernesto Perren is married to the children's book author and illustrator Yolanda Perren-Terzi .
