Marillet is a French commune with 115 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Vendée department in the Pays de la Loire region ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Fontenay-le-Comte and the canton of La Châtaigneraie .
geography
The municipality is located about 17 kilometers northeast of Fontenay-le-Comte and 30 kilometers northwest of Niort on the border with the neighboring Deux-Sèvres department of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region .
Neighboring municipalities of Marillet are:
- Saint-Hilaire-de-Voust to the west and north,
- Le Busseau in the east (Deux-Sèvres department),
- Faymoreau to the south and
- Puy-de-Serre in the southwest.
The place is located on the northern bank of the Fougères river , which is dammed up here to form a small reservoir and finally flows into the Vendée on the southwestern municipal boundary .
Transport links
Sauvain is away from national traffic connections. The municipal area is crossed by the D19 département road in a north-south direction.
In the village, three clapper bridges connect the districts of Thorigny, Rives de l'Yon and La Chaize across the river.
